Ch21: Questions Answered

"Kneazles," Greyson said when they reached the stone gargoyle guarding the staircase to the headmistress's office. The gargoyle moved aside to reveal the steep, winding staircase.
Greyson pushed Luna ahead to walk up the stairs. As he and King followed, Luna heard the gargoyle return to it's spot in front of the staircase. She heard someone laugh from outside. Lucky, she thought jealously.
"Go!" Greyson snapped impatiently. Luna shook herself and began up the staircase. King whispered something. "Shh!" Greyson scolded softly.
Luna came to a stop outside the door at the top of the stairs. She knocked.
"Come in!" Professor McGonagall called. Luna froze. Her stomach felt like it had just been tied in to a square-knot by her heart.
Greyson reached over Luna's head and pushed the door open. Luna walked through slowly. She turned around to watch King come through the door. She eyed him suspiciously.
"Potter was sneaking around the edge of the Forbidden Forest earlier, Professor." Greyson said. Then he stepped off to the side without another word. Luna thought that seemed strange.
"Very Well. You and Mr. King are dismissed." McGonagall ordered.
Greyson and King left without another word. McGonagall turned to Luna.
"I see finding the Stone didn't work out,"
"No, Professor...But what were King and Professor Greyson doing? Do you know? And what was King doing there? And-"
"I told Professor Greyson the location of the Resurrection Stone. I told him to find it."
    "But wasn't I supposed to-"
"I told the professor to lie to you about your marks to distract you from finding the Stone. I had decided to go with a new plan to defeat Delphini Riddle. A plan that I will tell you about when I feel it is the right time..."
"But what was King doing with him?"
"...Yet another thing to learn when the time comes..."
"Well, did they at least find it?"
Professor McGonagall's face brightened a bit. "Yes. It is safe," She looked at the grandfather clock near the door behind Luna. "Look at the time! Hurry on down to lunch now, Ms. Potter."
    "...Yes, Professor."
Luna began down the staircase after shutting the door behind her.
What's King hiding... Luna thought, narrowing her eyes. Then, she smiled. An adventure over before the middle of the year! Luna did make enemies, but she also made friends. This year, she was going to focus on the friends. This is going to be a great year.
