Ch6: Hat of Houses

                            Luna felt very queasy as she stood next to all the other first years waiting to be sorted into her Hogwarts house. She was wondering if the sorting hat wouldn't even be able to place her in a house when Professor DiCarso called out the name of the first student to be sorted.

                             " Alris, Derin" scrambled up to the stool on which the sorting hat sat, stuffed it onto his head and waited. The sorting hat took a few seconds to decide before yelling out the boy's house 

                            "SLYTHERIN!" 

                            Alris took the hat off, got up from the stool on which he was sitting and walked to the slytherin table, from which loud applause was coming. Then DiCarso shouted out the next name.

                            "Corri, Lila" calmly walked up to the sorting hat, shoved it on and sat down, muttering to herself. In slightly less time that it had taken for Alris, the sorting hat yelled out,

                            "GRYFFINDOR!"

                            Lila Corri jogged off to the gryffindor table, where she was met with load applause. Dicarso called out the name of the next person to be sorted, but Luna stopped paying attention.

                            After a few minutes Luna's brain tuned back in to the sorting, just in time to hear "King, Clayton" get sorted into Slytherin. He took the hat off and swaggered over to the Slytherin table where more applause was coming. 

                            "Royce, Jacqueline" was sorted into Gryffindor, "Stiller, Marvin" went to Hufflepuff, and "Orlin, Oliver" was sorted into Ravenclaw.

                            "Potter, Lily" Luna's stomach felt like it did a backflip. Slowly, she got out of the line of students and walked to the sorting hat. She picked up the hat and sat down. Before it covered her eyes completely, Luna could see people standing up to get a better look at her.

                            Hmmmmmmm...difficult, very difficult... The sorting hat said in her ear, Signs of bravery...bit of a dark side actually...

                            Please not Slytherin...Actually, Luna thought, Albus is in it, so it can't be too bad... Wait, no, please not Slytherin!

                            The sorting hat seemed to change it's mind halfway through speaking, because it shouted out "SLYTHERDOR!"

                            A murmur ran through the crowd.

                            I mean, The sorting hat said to Luna, 

                            "GRYFFINDOR!"...
